Egmont Movement Park was created with the ambition of bringing people with and without disabilities together through movement, play and a sense of community. Accessibility has been considered from the very beginning, ensuring that different needs do not become a barrier to taking part in the park's activities and experiences.
But an inclusive park is about more than providing access to paths and activities. For some people, having the right toilet and care facilities is essential to being able to stay and participate at all. That is why the park's commitment to accessibility extends to its toilet facilities, where Pressalit has provided solutions for people with needs that a standard accessible toilet cannot accommodate.
In this way, the facilities become a natural part of the park's overall ambition: to create an environment where more people can participate on their own terms and feel part of the community.

Egmont Movement Park is located at Egmont Højskolen in Hou and has been developed as a universally designed space for movement and activities. The park brings together people of different abilities, ages and backgrounds, creating opportunities for everyone to be active together.
The park was designed by LYTT Architecture under the concept Naturally Connected. One of the guiding principles behind its development has been to think "wheels before legs": By designing spaces with wheelchair users in mind from the very beginning, solutions are created that benefit a much wider range of people.
This approach can be seen throughout the park. A wide, accessible network of paths connects training areas, a pump track, multi-use sports courts, recreational spaces and the park's pavilion. Activities and routes also vary in difficulty, allowing visitors to choose their own level and challenge.
The goal is not necessarily for everyone to do the same thing, but for everyone to have the opportunity to participate.
“No one should be reduced to simply sitting on the sidelines, drinking coffee and looking after other people's bags.”

When the ambition is to create a park where everyone can participate, accessibility must be considered throughout the entire visit.
For some people, a standard accessible toilet is not enough. They may need assistance with toileting, changing clothes or personal care, requiring additional space and specialist equipment.
Without the right facilities, a day out may have to be cut short – or may not be possible at all.
This is precisely the barrier that the Changing Places concept was developed to overcome.

A Changing Place toilet provides additional space and access to specialist equipment, enabling people with complex needs to use toilet facilities safely, comfortably and with dignity.
In the pavilion at Egmont Movement Park, Pressalit has supplied solutions for the fully accessible toilet facility, including:
Height-adjustable shower and changing table
Toilet lifter with arm supports
Height-adjustable wash basin
Additional accessories to support an accessible bathroom layout
The height-adjustable solutions allow the facilities to be adapted to each user's individual needs and the specific situation. At the same time, consideration has been given to the working conditions of carers and assistants providing support.
This means that accessibility is not just about being able to reach the park and take part in its activities. It also extends to meeting the essential personal needs that make it possible for visitors to stay and enjoy the park for longer periods.

Pressalit and Egmont Højskolen have worked closely together on accessible solutions for many years. At Egmont Movement Park, their shared understanding of users' needs has provided a natural starting point for the design of the toilet facilities.
For Pressalit, the Changing Places concept is all about considering the room as a whole. Accessibility is not achieved through individual products alone, but through the interaction between space, layout, functionality and the people who use the facilities.
“Egmont Højskolen has a unique understanding of what genuine inclusion requires. Here, accessibility is not about adding solutions as an afterthought, but about considering the needs of different people from the very beginning. This is an approach we share at Pressalit. With the facilities at Egmont Movement Park, this philosophy has been carried through every aspect of the design – including some of the most basic human needs.”

In a park filled with movement, activities and opportunities to connect with others, the toilet facilities may not be the first thing visitors notice. But for people whose needs cannot be met by a standard accessible toilet, these facilities can make the difference between being able to participate or not.
Access to safe and suitable facilities for toileting, changing and personal care gives more people the freedom to enjoy the park on their own terms. And that is at the very heart of the ambition behind Egmont Movement Park: to create an environment where different needs do not stand in the way of participation and a sense of belonging.
